How to Create a Simple Monthly Ritual for Reflection, Grounding and Self-Connection
Life fills up quickly.
There is always another message to answer, another task to finish, another place for our attention to go.
Even practices meant to help us feel calmer—meditation, journaling, mindfulness—can sometimes start to feel like one more thing we are supposed to keep up with.
A monthly ritual offers another way. Not a strict routine. Not something you have to do perfectly. Just a little space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself.
What is a monthly ritual?
A ritual is simply something we do with intention. It can be as simple as making tea before journaling, lighting a candle, sitting with a meaningful piece of art, or taking a quiet meditative walk at the beginning of each month.
The point is not the activity itself. The point is creating a moment where you can step out of the usual pace of life and notice what is happening within you.
A monthly ritual might take ten minutes or an hour. It can look different every time.
What matters is that it gives you a place to return to yourself.
Why choose a monthly ritual?
Daily routines can be supportive, but they can also create pressure. If you miss a day or two, it is easy to feel as though you have fallen behind.
A monthly reflection ritual gives you more room.
Instead of focusing on productivity or goals, you can ask:
What has been taking most of my energy?
What needs my attention?
What am I ready to let go of?
What do I want to make more space for?
What feels true for me right now?
You do not need to fix anything.
Sometimes simply noticing is enough.
A monthly reset can be gentle
The idea of a “monthly reset” is often connected to planning, cleaning, organizing, or setting new goals. But it can also be quieter than that.
Instead of asking:
What do I need to accomplish this month?
try asking:
How do I want to feel?
Instead of:
What should I change?
try:
What is asking for my attention?
A monthly ritual does not have to be about becoming a new version of yourself.
It can simply be a way of coming back to yourself as you are.
A simple monthly reflection ritual
If you are not sure where to begin, try this four-part practice:
Look Within
Spend a few moments noticing what is present.
How are you feeling?
What has been occupying your thoughts?
What feels unresolved, tender, or alive?
If you are sitting with a piece of art, notice where your attention naturally goes.
Soften
Take a slow breath.
Release the feeling that you need to solve anything.
You do not need a breakthrough.
You do not need to journal perfectly.
You do not need to feel calm.
Let yourself simply be here.
Ground
Bring your attention back to your body.
Feel the chair beneath you.
Notice your feet on the floor.
Listen to the sounds around you.
Grounding does not mean making yourself smaller.
It means creating enough steadiness to hear yourself more clearly.
You can ground your energy without dimming your light.
Expand
Once you feel a little more settled, allow yourself to become curious.
Write for a few minutes.
Follow whatever comes forward.
Ask what wants more space in your life.
Expansion does not always mean doing more.
Sometimes it simply means allowing for another possibility.
Monthly journaling prompts
You do not need a long list of questions.
Choose one or two each month:
What am I carrying right now?
What am I ready to put down?
What needs more care?
Where do I feel most like myself?
What am I making more complicated than it needs to be?
What would it feel like to soften around this?
What do I want to make space for?
What am I quietly being drawn toward?
What do I already know that I have not been listening to?
One honest answer can be enough.
Use art as a visual anchor
Art can be a beautiful part of a meditation or journaling practice because it gives your attention somewhere to rest.
Choose a piece of art and spend a few minutes simply looking.
Notice:
which colours draw you in
which shapes hold your attention
what feelings arise
what memories or words come forward
There is no need to interpret the artwork correctly.
Let it become a visual anchor.
Something that reminds you to stop, breathe, and listen inward.
You might keep it beside your journal, on your desk, by your bed, or somewhere you pass every day.
Let the ritual stay simple
Some months you may want to spend an hour journaling.
Other months you may sit quietly for ten minutes and write only a few lines.
Both are meaningful.
The value of a monthly ritual is not in how much time you give it.
It is in the space it creates.
Ten quiet minutes can be enough.
A monthly ritual through art
This idea of creating a small, intentional pause each month is at the heart of Grounded in Light.
Grounded in Light is a monthly collection of channeled artwork created for grounding, reflection, and reconnecting with the radiant light within. Each piece is accompanied by a channeled message, reflection prompts, and a simple contemplative practice you can return to throughout the month
You do not need experience with meditation.
You do not need to know anything about Light Language.
There is nothing to complete or keep up with.
Just an invitation to:
Look within. Soften. Ground. Expand.
Grounded in Light begins in December, with Founding Membership opening in November 2026.
Ground your energy without dimming your light.
